children & cleaning, atleast mine.

so my daughter has a list of chores that are suppose to be done every day. . . key phrase being "suppose to be."
now every day I try to stay on top of her to get them done. the truth of the matter is that it takes more energy for me to make her do them than it does if I had just done them myself. really makes me wonder why I even bother having her do them, sometimes.

than there are other times I ask her to do her chores and they are done in no time, and done right? what the heck?

I will be glad once she finally just does them consistantly right. . . the first time!

okay who wants some brownies? (and coffee, hehe)

dna testing, not just paternity testing

there is a new thing out on the market, well maybe just a few years old new, called otc dna testing. one company can test your family history back 150,000 years to diseases you could have in your dna. however, after some of the people at the fda sent in their testing swabs they did not come back as expected, "Five staff members sent two DNA samples to each company; one with his or her real personal and medical information, and one with faux identifying and medical information.

Results varied markedly between companies and some information contradicted already diagnosed health conditions. Amongst the small sampling, the tests produced inconsistent results for the same disease 68 percent of the time." - Direct-to-Consumer Genetic Testing Facing Fire by: susan brady

so my question is, how great is all this testing?

Medicated Children. . .

i have been reading articles on childhood obesity, diabetes and other related illnesses. it is really sad. they are saying how so many children have to take prescription drugs related to all these use to be adult illnesses. now these children that have not even reached puberty and are required to take these drugs on a daily basis.

what is wrong with us? we have all gone from going outside to play and get some sun to staying inside. the same old broken record going over and over again in my head about how the sun is bad for you and how it can cause skin cancer. truth be told i would rather my daughter get skin cancer than be obese and get diabetes and be on a regimen of these drugs. i would rather my daughter have to get a little bit of her skin cut off than be walking around a time bomb staying in the house.

but. . . there are no children going outside to play any more. oh it is to hot and nothing to do. what did we all do as children outside, we all had a good ol' time and played till the evening hours and than went home to have dinner and go to bed. our own children dont do this. . . we are to affriad of child predators and skin cancer.

so maybe we should watch our children and go outside with them, behind them with the sun block.

do you know that rickets has come back? yes, rickets. . .good ol' fashion vitamin d would take care of this but no. . .our children are locked in the house all day where it is nice and cool and no one bad can touch them. let us all go outside with our children, spend some time with them. maybe that would also help their psyicis as well and they would not need to go see a shrink when they are older because mommy and daddy never spent any time with them.

seriously. . we all need to throw our children outside and tell them to stay outside a while. yes i am talking to myself as well.

amazing how a little time outside could rid us all of our sleep problems, our obesity. . . our pains. . . just saying

night time and/or morning

i am really learning to love night time. it isn't the fact that it is cooler. nah it couldn't be that. i think i am learning to enjoy evenings because that is when things are quiet. . . a hot cup of tea is better than a hot cup of coffee. the cars aren't buzzing outside, and you can just sit and hear the crickets and other insects.

i am learning to love early mornings too, why? because this is when kiran is most active, trying new things. a hot cup of coffee isn't far away (love the flavor of my coffee), the house is quiet while everyone sleeps but her and i. the birds are chirping and the world seems right.

sleepy eyes

great morning. hubby made chocolate chip pancakes and chipotle eggs. great combo.

got my garden watered this morning. should have a bunch of cherry tomatoes ripe within the next couple days, which will be really nice for salads. have one bell pepper which should be good to eat in the next couple days as well. not nearly as large as the ones you see in the store. i am guessing those ones are older than a year old. maybe mine will be bigger next year (if they survive the winter).

ahh a great cup of coffee and a wonderful breakfast, who can ask for more ?

the coffee

The day has to start with coffee, whether it be black or with sugar and cream. As a new mother, again, 5 hours of sleep is awesome. My darling daughter #1 sleeps 12 hours and complains she will take a nap. Oh the joys of being 10 years old and being able to sleep through a new borns cries in the middle of the night.
I love my darling daughter #2 but it will be awhile before I can sleep through the night again.

So anyone for a carmel moccioto? I need carmel. . .
